Loons on Lobster Lake

The Lobster Lake Association (LLA) supports the placement of floating loon nesting platforms at various locations around the lake. This started with one nest in 2001 and and has grown to eleven in 2026.

This effort has produced between two and eleven loon chicks per year. Volunteer “caretakers” place new nesting vegetation on the frame each spring and deploy them shortly after ice out. The caretakers monitor the success/failure of each nest until removal and storage at the end of June. The Association keeps an annual record of the information.

Please stay at least 50 feet away from the nests that are being used by loons.
